  The ninth annual Battle for Australia Oration will be delivered by prolific author and journalist Peter FitzSimons AM at the Royal Automobile Club, 89 Macquarie Street, Sydney on Monday 17 February 2025 at 1000h. The Oration is held each year to mark the occasion in the Second World War when Prime Minister John Curtin coined the phrase "Battle for Australia" in communicating to all Australians the dangers that lay ahead, following the Fall of Singapore.
Peter FitzSimons was named a Member of the Order of Australia in 2011 for service to literature as a biographer, sports journalist and commentator, and to the community through contributions to conservation, disability care, social welfare and sporting organisations.
